This factory will be built as part of the project to expand the Central Taiwan Science Park. For this purpose, isolated area of about 53 hectares, which will house TSMC, Giant and other companies. The expansion project still must be approved by the plenary EPA, and the Agency for Construction and Planning of the Ministry of the Interior.
As expected, TSMC will be able to begin construction of the factory in late 2014 or early 2015. The total investment in this project will reach $ 16.73 billion, and although TSMC has not approved the schedule, construction is scheduled to finish in 2019. It is expected that the factory will create about 7,000 jobs each year, it will produce more than $ 6.5 billion.
Separately, DigiTimes reports that the main producers of the factory, working with 200-mm substrates, will be fully loaded until the end of 2014, while all the factories that use 300-millimeter wafer is reduced due to reduced volumes of the respective orders.
